General

Some of the best stargazing can be found on the beaches of North Carolina.  Numerous astronomical events, such as super moons and meteor showers, take place in the Fall and Winter.  Oceanfront homes are encouraged to turn off ocean facing lights to assist sea turtle hatchlings in finding their way to the sea by the light of the moon. This makes for superior viewing of the night sky. So, after dinner head out to the beach, spread out a blanket and enjoy the cool night air while the heavens put on a show.
