Dog Fees

Rental homes that are pet friendly allow 1 or 2 (property specific) housebroken domestic dogs. If you are bringing a dog, the weekly rental rate will have an additional pet fee added. Dog fees are taxed and fees vary according to property.

Prohibited Breeds

Guests also may be asked to disclose the breed and weight of each dog. Based on this information we may refuse to allow pet occupancy. The reason for this is that in many cases Liability Insurance excludes certain dog breeds from coverage. Some common breeds that Liability Insurance excludes are:

  • Pit Bull
  • Rottweiler
  • Chow Chow
  • Presa Canario
  • Akita
  • Doberman Pinscher
  • Wolf Hybrids
  • Mastiff
  • Wolf
  • German Shepherd

Consequences For Sneaking Your Dog In

Please don't bring your dog(s) to a Non-Pet Friendly or Pet Free rental home. You will get caught, and the consequences will ruin your vacation. Our cleaners can tell if there's been a dog present and will document it. According to the North Carolina Vacation Rental Act, a pet of any kind on the premises, including the exterior, decks, garages, etc. of a non-pet property is absolutely prohibited and is grounds for expedited eviction of the entire party and forfeiture of all monies paid. In addition, a violation of the pet policy will result in fees of not less than $500.00 and will include costs associated with pest control, carpet cleaning or replacement, furniture cleaning or replacement. Proof of pet removal must be provided by the Guest when violation has occurred if occupancy is to continue.

It's just not worth it. There are people who have allergies, many times children, who depend on certain homes being available that have had no animals present. Be kind to your fellow vacationer, please don't break this rule.

Pet Check-Out Duties

Please tidy up after your dog prior to departure/check-out. Pick-up any pet excrement that may be in the yard and whenever you walk your dog on the beach or in the neighborhood, please remember to bring a baggy with you.

If your dog has damaged something in the house, please send us an email and let us know. Sometimes these things happen in pet friendly homes, and we know that. It only becomes a serious problem when we find out at the last minute and it inconveniences the next family checking in.

You will be held responsible for paying for your pet's misdeeds, but we will try to make it as painless and possible. In all circumstances, guests are responsible for paying for the fixing of, or replacing of, whatever their pet has damaged, and this cost is in addition to the pet fee already rendered.

If you have any questions regarding our pet policies, please give us a call at (910) 928-0055.
